My Darling,

While waiting for a prospect to return from a trip to Owego I will drop you a line. It’s a beautiful day and delightful to drive but it is so lonesome without you. You see the first shot out I’m way behind my schedule. We got into Binghamton at 11 o’clock and had a nice ride and had dinner together at Carlton and after dinner we drove to Union where I left Mr. Buell. Wish he could start out with me every week. I drove

from Union to Union Center, to Maine, to Richfield where I stayed overnight and slept on a straw tick covered over with an old quilt-not a comforter. I got one order in Binghamton for $40 before dinner, one in Union Center for $19.40 and two in Richfield for $47 and $23.25. Its suppertime and I have three little orders today for $18.75, $44 and $19. Will drive to Newark Valley tonight and spend forenoon there then on to Owego where I wish I could get a letter from you. It’s awful hard to tell you where I’m to be. Keep writing and I’ll get your letters. Will not get into Towanda before Thursday. Its no use trying to hurry over many towns as long as there are some KNOTHOLES.

Love unmeasured,

John

If you're new to this project, please consider going to our site and catching up with a few letters from the 1900-1910 era. The letters only take 3-5 minutes to read and you'll find the characters more fully develop if you read the letters chronologically.

John has excellent handwriting. However, in some instances, I cant decipher it. If I can't, I simply mark the spot with "xxx"s to signify thank the word isn't decipherable.
