My Darling,
Your good letter came on tonight’s mail and I was much delighted to get it. I had fear that you would
not be able to catch me here. I left Auburn about 10:30 and after getting out of the city it seemed as though you had been with me on the road but could not just make it out until I got nearly here. This is the town where we stayed over night and took in the home talent show. You are right in saying I would have been cold without side curtains yesterday.
It was a cold, lonesome ride. It has been quite cool today but very pleasant. Elisabeth has to go back before my return home, Wish I could get to feeling good and ambitious for business. Must keep at it all the time. Will be so glad to get back home at end of week. May have car in Binghamton.
Two little orders today for $27.00 each. I take off my hat to all the fellows who are doing such big business.
Hope you are all well. Please don’t work too hard. Read a bit every day.
Your loving,
John
Editor's notes
If you're new to this project, please consider going to our site and catching up with a few letters from the 1900-1910 era. The letters only take 3-5 minutes to read and you'll find the characters more fully develop if you read the letters chronologically.
John has excellent handwriting. However, in some instances, I cant decipher it. If I can't, I simply mark the spot with "xxx"s to signify thank the word isn't decipherable.
