My Darling,
It is 10:00 o'clock and as I have to take a train at 4:50 in the morning will not write much tonight. I expect to stop at Binghamton for mail and may put in part of the day there.
Counting the two orders I took after supper Saturday night, we have seven orders for a total of $314.89 for today, which brings our total sales up to a little over $21,000. Think that is pretty good and can't help feeling very grateful. Hope to find a letter waiting for me at Binghamton. It will seem mighty good to get home and see Marion [who is attending Syracuse University] and the rest of family. When does Elizabeth go? Would love to get home for Louise’s [14th] birthday [on Friday, April 2nd], but don't see how I can possibly do it.
Love unmeasured from your affectionate,
John
Editor's notes
This is the first of many back and forths this week between John and Sue as to whether he will make it home for Louise's 14th birthday on Friday. I don't know if he'll make it yet but cant wait to find out.
On another note, it is surprising to me that John is able to post letters and have complete confidence they will arrive overnight. This is one thing that has certainly not improved in the past 100 years. Remarkable.
