Friday PM
Dearest Mother
The laundry case and check and baked goods came yesterday morning all of which I’m most thankful for. I have all my debts paid now and still have a little. The bread is wonderful. I was starved all day yesterday and kept a knife going through it most of the time. I think I’m getting fat! Honest! The dance was just perfect-
way out of sight. Bob and I both had a wonderful time. I do wish you could see my dress. I am wild about it and everyone else is and I had the most wonderful flowers for it. Darling pink goldish ones. A dozen. The one I sent you is one of the smaller ones, but about the freshest. We had the Cornell Orchestra and there isn't another that can touch it. Wonderful cats, lots of them. And I was very hungry. Chicken salad with much celery and dressing, finger rolls, sandwiches, olives, maple “mousse” and cakes. Don't worry, I didn't tire myself out working for it. Went up in the morning for 1/2 hour. Swept side porch, carried light wicker chairs upstairs. 15 minutes in PM cut out roses. Our favors were grey suede card cases, four page letter to M[arion] that you will get.
Love,
Bet

If you're new to this project, please consider going to our site and catching up with a few letters from the 1900-1910 era. The letters only take 3-5 minutes to read and you'll find the characters more fully develop if you read the letters chronologically.
John has excellent handwriting. However, in some instances, I cant decipher it. If I can't, I simply mark the spot with "xxx"s to signify thank the word isn't decipherable.
