My Darling:
I have just time to send you a little message of love before suppertime. I got in here at about eight o’clock last night and expected to get out at 11:15 this morning, but I couldn’t make it. I have four orders
here for $109.70 from the bank, one for $68, one for $35 and one for $62 so that’s pretty good for one small town. Murphy’s man [a competitor] came in at noon and I am afraid he has had slow business. The $109 and $68 orders were from Murphy’s customers last year. Their salesman is going out with me on same train at eight o’clock and I fancy we will stop at same town, Belfast. I fully expect a letter there. I fear it’s a mistake to stop off at that town but I don’t want to run by away from your letters. I am travelling so slowly that I don’t believe I can get home this week. I know that I am losing customers in other parts of my territory but I can’t be everywhere at same time and I believe its economy and good business to work most of these towns while I am out here. I am anxious to hear from you and I'll be much disappointed if I don’t get a letter at Belfast. My route was for Tuesday there.
Hope the children are getting along in good shape with regents. While my business is dismal. I am mighty sore to think that they have fixed my bogey so that we can’t get the extra 1%. I’ll bet you all you want to that Newsome, Wilkerson and some others get the top whether they reach bogey or not and I’ll bet they won't have to make any bogey.
Let me hear from you with a good long letter. They only have two trains each way on this Pexxx road so I am going to mail this before supper and then it will go out to Olsan on my train.
Love without measure,
Jack
